BaGua
BaGuazhang
Yin Style BaGuaZhang
named after Yin Fu. ”Yin fu was a very small
man in size, but his fighting skills were
extraordinary.” Yin fu was Tung Hai Chuan's first
top student in the art of BaGuaZhang - fierce
speed and
aggressive attacking
methods in combat situations.
Yin Fu was known to neutralize and simultaneously
counterstrike his opponents with the piercing palm.
He was the first of Tung Hai Chuan's students to
popularize the piercing palm and the method of using
sixty-four palms, as opposed to eight-palm change in
most BaGuaZhang systems being taught today.
Some of the fighting techniques includes: Thrusting,
cutting, slicing, splitting & chopping
Yin style also incorporates fist, elbows, shoulder
strikes, leg kicking and leg locking techniques.
Yin Fu methods have many leg techniques that are
very effective. Yin style Kicks are effective,
because many of the kicks are done in conjunction
with hand techniques. Many Yin style kicks attack
low in a fight, so that the Yin style practitioner
can retract their feet swiftly.
Based on the ancient Chinese text, the I-Ching or
Book of Changes Ba Gua Zhang, which translates as
Eight Diagram Palm, is a unique Chinese martial art
that uses fluid moves similar to Tai Chi Chuan but
with more footwork and hip rotation. Learn 64 basic
movements of the palm, which correspond to the eight
trigrams of the I-Ching, utilizing intricate
movements of your entire body along a circle.
The objective of walking the circle, is to twist the
waist to develop a strong flexible spine, improve
balance and eye-hand coordination. The paradox is
that through the seemingly contradictory moves one
develops grace,
speed and
power.
Walking in a circle, otherwise known, as
"Circle
Walking"
is the cornerstone of the art. All styles of Ba Gua
Zhang practice this method. Walking the circle has
become the Ba Gua Zhang trademark.

Sun, the most modern
of the five major styles of Tai Chi, (the other four
being Yang, Wu, family Wu and Chen) Sun Tai Chi was
developed in the early 1900s by the famous
grandmaster Sun Lutang and is unique in that it
fuses Ba Gua and Xing Yi with classical Tai Chi
Chuan. Sun Lutang was born in 1861 as the son of a
poor farmer. Sun mastered the three traditional
internal styles of Chinese martial arts, he began
developing his own style. Incorporating elements
from Xing Yi and Bagua into his Tai Chi, Sun style
T'ai Chi Chuan was born.
